For much of my working life, I was an actor, writer, and a filmmaker. From live performance during my years in Chicago, to parts in commercials and television during my decade in Los Angeles, my work was about being creative and being seen. Then life suddenly shifted the spotlight.

During the pandemic, I became a mother, moved across the country to Michigan, and shortly after, faced a diagnosis of triple-negative breast cancer. Facing my own mortality changed everything. For the first time in my life, I had to consider the prospect of death. I found that many of my friends and family were hesitant to "go there" with me, insisting I stay positive and keep fighting. I understood their rationale, but I also innately knew that I could confront death while also wanting, needing, to continue living. So I read books, listened to podcasts, watched documentaries and films, and through these sources of education I was able to make peace with the fact that I was going to die one day. After I made it to the other side of cancer, I still found myself drawn to the end-of-life space. That’s when I started volunteering for a local hospice.

Through my work as a hospice volunteer, I’ve walked the liminal space between life and death with scores of individuals, witnessing how people navigate grief, dignity, and connection in life’s final chapter. I was inspired to officially expand my education by undergoing certification as a memorial celebrant and a death coach. I continue to volunteer as a way to show my gratitude and appreciation for the invaluable lessons I have been taught by those I have interacted with through the hospice organization.

Today, I combine my natural empathy with my professional background in public speaking and writing to serve as a certified memorial celebrant and death coach.  I am here to help honor the stories that matter most, guide meaningful ceremonies for loved ones passed, and provide care to those needing support with transitions at the end-of-life.
